I've really enjoyed my experience with this school. The scheduling and makeup lesson system is incredibly well organized, making it easy to manage lessons without lengthy email exchanges or scheduling confusion. Everything is clear, efficient, and student-friendly. I also greatly appreciated that the school offers Chinese-speaking instructors. Having the option to communicate in Chinese made lessons more comfortable and helped me better understand technical concepts when needed. The combination of excellent administration, convenient scheduling, and supportive teachers made learning here a very positive experience. Highly recommended.

He also allows him to play his chosen pieces not just from the Suzuki book, helping with sustaining interest in playing. I highly recommend Opus 1 and Me Fitzpatrick.

Since my daughter joined, she has had three different teachers, including her current teacher, Giselle Nguyen, and she truly loved every one of them. The teachers are patient, funny, encouraging, and really know how to engage young children and make learning piano enjoyable. One thing we especially appreciate is how willing the teachers are to listen to parents’ feedback about home practice and each child’s development, then adjust the teaching pace accordingly. Well-organized school for mainly piano and violin lessons. I took my trial lesson at Palo Alto, but found the MTV location way more bikable. I took lessons with Luis. I was a returning violinist who stopped 10 years ago after 8 years of lessons. Luis figured out a plan with me on reaching my goals -- building my intonation, bow techniques back up to scratch -- of playing the concertos I missed so much. He provided good feedback every lesson and addressed my questions pretty well. The school has a great web portal for scheduling lessons and recitals. It's pretty easy to use, much nicer than the phone call + check based system I grew up with.

My 7 yr old has been doing one-on-one Ukulele lessons with Teacher John Mausen at Opus 1 Music for 1.5 yrs . John is an amazing teacher. He makes each learning session fun by playing and singing along with my kid. Every new song is introduced with a little fun fact which is helping her grow her music experience. My kid looks forward to every lesson and feels motivated to practice. Teacher John is also good about acknowledging her improvements and providing feedback when something needs more practice. Opus 1 Music staff is amazing and care about their students, and their families. They have always handled my queries and schedule adjustments with courtesy. The school offers 2-3 performance opportunities (free recitals) for the kids throughout the year. And the private lessons are reasonably priced. Overall, I am very happy with the Opus 1 Music and it has been a wonderful music experience!

I am an adult student and have been taking voice lessons with teacher Anne for over a year. She is a fantastic teacher, who has helped so much on my singing skills, including performing to an audience as well as passing Certificate of Merit (CM) exams. Anne is highly responsible and observant to help her students perfecting every detail including breathing, pronunciation, and tonation. The best part is that she does that in the most encouraging, friendly and passionate way, which is critical for building my confidence and keeping my motivation as a student. Since I started, I have performed 3 times in recitals and in a holiday party (all free from Opus 1), learnt numerous songs in various languages, and took a CM exam with good results. My daughter started with Opus 1 as an infant doing a Music Together class. She loved her introduction to music and started piano at 3 years with Teacher Yuri in Sunshine. She loved her piano classes and flourished under the guidance of teacher Yuri. She continued on to private lessons with teacher Yuri and has grown tremendously. One is never too young or too old to immerse themselves in the world of music at Opus 1. Opus 1 Music Studio now offers three locations - two in Mountain View and one in Palo Alto. The studio offers a wide range of programs that can accompany your child on their musical journey from infancy to adulthood. They have demo and trial classes available for you to first see if the program you are interested in is right for you or your child. Their classes range from Music Together, which accepts children in infancy, to private lessons for the youngest beginners to the mature master-level. The classrooms are tidy and well equipped. There is a waiting room with WiFi for parents to work or young siblings to play. For customized learning, the studio boasts several staff with experience in cultivating award-winning students. We switched to Teacher Minghua when our last teacher left, and our little one absolutely loves her new teacher. Teacher Minghua is by far the best teacher she has had so far on her piano journey. We could tell right away, even over online-only learning, that Minghua has years of experience in teaching and knows how to teach with efficiency and select the right curriculum to push her students to the next level. Our little one now feels a great sense of progress and accomplishment under her new teacher and truly has a passion for playing the piano and improving her skills under Minghua's skillful tutelage. There is a wide range of teachers available to choose from for each level of expertise ranging from Standard Level I to Master Level III. There is no required commitment to stick with one teacher. Students are allowed to switch to another teacher at any time (pending scheduling). For private lessons, tuition is charged on a monthly basis, and missed classes are issued make-up passes that may be used at any location. The make-up passes have no expiration, with accrual up to 3 passes, so it allows for a lot of flexibility. If a one-on-one class cannot be attended in-person, the studio's customer portal enables easy online attendance. The studio's portal also facilitates communication of class notes and clarifications between teachers and students. In addition, administrative assistance is easily accessed through text, online chat, phone, or email. A major benefit of this studio is that it offers students with at least 3 performance opportunities a year, with medal awards given at recitals for motivation. Being able to collect those shiny things sure motivates my little one to practice hard! We have been with this music studio for almost 5 years now. Opus 1 is a great choice for your music education goals!

My son is taking violin lessons with Opus 1. He's played before, we wanted another private teacher but it seems most teachers are affiliated with a music school. So far it's been good, we have tried a few teachers and they all seem qualified, with different techniques. Scheduling lessons and makeups has been easy and the staff at all locations seem very nice and helpful. The teachers can be booked back to back but they keep track of time, so you aren't in a situation where the student before runs way over. Lots of availability for scheduling makeups, particularly if you can use a different teacher. Billing is fine, nice interface. There's some stuff other reviews cite that I want to correct though. The makeup policy lets you hold 2 makeup classes, not 3. Maybe that changed recently. Also, it's 2 recitals per year, the others either you pay or need to be chosen. Finally, the one thing that irks me a bit is 2 of our 3 cancellations were because of the teacher and on short notice (this is all recent). Lastly, I think some of the teachers are better geared towards young kids, you'll need to try them out to find out. Others are fine with kids and likely fine with people who already know how to play, but it's not like mommy/me music time type of personality.

Opus 1 Music Studio is an excellent music studio. Both my kids started at this studio in 2018. They participated in two years of Music for Young Children (Sunshine and Sunbeams) with Teacher Yuri. Yuri is fantastic--very organized and very cheerful. MYC was a great introduction to musical concepts (solfege, note values and rhythm, note names and piano geography, dynamics, recognizing skips/steps/standing still, etc) and provided a really good foundation for when my kids continued with private lessons. I highly recommend the MYC series. My kids continued with private lessons starting in 2020 during the pandemic--we started with online lessons and have continued online ever since. The only area of improvement I can suggest is if they can find a way to improve the internet bandwidth because sometimes the connection is choppy. The online lessons are so convenient that we haven't gone back to the studio even though it's an option. So far, my kids have had two fantastic private lesson teachers. We started with Ava initially and then switched to Effie due to scheduling reasons. We've been with Effie for about 9 months--she's very capable, organized, extremely responsive to messages, and very receptive to input. Effie has also spent extra time creating piano arrangements at the appropriate level for pop songs my kids wanted to play--that is a testament to her dedication. The studio does a great job with organizing recitals and the holiday party. The online portal is easy to use to communicate with the teacher. The admin staff is extremely responsive and quickly addresses concerns raised. They also have a great makeup policy and summer hold policy. Overall, we've had such a great experience at this studio and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a quality place to take music lessons.

The Opus1 team and teacher Kenta in particular are fantastic. Teacher Kenta has a great skill motivating his students. My kid is learning the guitar only since a short time, but delivered a great performance at a recent recital. Teacher Kenta motivated my kid to practice far more than I expected. Funny story: I had purchased a used cello from a piano teacher from Opus 1, who happens to be my colleagues piano teacher who is also taking cello lessons so now we have the same teacher! Elliott is patient, understanding, and just an amazing teacher overall. The admin, Mei, is also super friendly and would recommend to anyone, any age, any point in the musical journey who wants to begin or continue!

My 9year old has been going to Opus 1 for piano (Teacher Yamila) and violin (Teacher John) lessons since she was 5. Both teachers are amazing! Teachers John & Yamila both understand how to cater to a young kid's attention span and need to chat/be social during the lesson, and balance that need with focusing on learning. Quality of instruction is also top notch and they give me suggestions on how to help kiddo with troublesome spots during practice. My kid isn't the best at reiterating what she covered in lessons or what to focus on but Teacher John always helps me figure this out when I text him to understand what exactly we need to do. Teacher Yamila helped me figure out my piano purchase, has accompanied my kid in recitals, and is also always a text message away. Unrelated to teachers but important to me - Opus 1 has a couple of performance opportunities a year, which we've been taking advantage of to help kid get used to being in front of crowds. The studio also allows you to put summer holds for 2 months - where you don't pay, but are guaranteed your spot with the teacher when you get back from summer holidays. Extremely convenient!

John is young and understands kids well, I guess that's one of the reasons he's pretty popular among students. He's also professional and always gives valuable advices. This Opus1 site locates in the same Square as Michael's, city sports and ranch 99. Parents have plenty of places to hang out during classes. That's another reason I like Opus1

Learning piano is a journey and is not easy especially for young children. It requires passion, discipline and inspiration. Not coming from a musical family and not knowing how to play any instruments, my husband and I decided to send my daughter to Opus 1 Music Studio for a well rounded musical education, so she can learn how to play piano, learn about music theory and music history. She can be challenged, encouraged and inspired by professional teachers and the community of students, learn to appreciate music, and build a lifelong love of music. She is 8 now and has been taking Piano lessons with Teacher Chaz for about a year and half. She has made great progress, really enjoys every lesson and looks forward to the lesson each week. We are very pleased with our experience so far and feel very lucky to have Teacher Chaz as our daughter's first Piano teacher. 1. From my daughter's point of view, Teacher Chaz is strict and fun! He has high standards which you would expect from a Level III teacher and emphasizes a lot of techniques which are super critical in the long run. At the same time, he keeps piano learning fun for young children. He has extensive experience working with young children, when he sees my daughter struggling with certain parts of the pieces, he works with her creatively and tries various methods with her to help her practice and improve. He is alway very patient in answering my daughter's endless questions and satisfies her curiosity. My daughter really likes her teacher and appreciates all the time for how much she has learned from Teacher Chaz. 2. From parents' point of view, Teacher Chaz is very experienced, professional and flexible to work with. He provides educational resources and opportunities that guide parents in helping children at home; he knows when and how to challenge students; he respects and works with the parents to set the right goals that work for the student and the family. I can't imagine how we can stay committed and progress on this journey without his guidance, support, encouragement, and inspiration. It has been a great pleasure working with Teacher Chaz! Opus 1 also offers free recitals 3 times a year. My daughter has attended 4 times already (2 online and 2 in person). Although it takes a lot of effort to prepare, it elevated her performances and created such rewarding experiences for her. She was nervous each time, but is also always looking forward to the next one. After 1.5 years of learning, she enjoys playing Piano more than ever! By far the best music school we tried in the Mountain View and Palo Alto Area. Our kids had trial lessons there with Teacher Patrick (Piano) and John (Violin) and both loved the lessons. We signed up for weekly lessons in both of their locations (Mountain View and Palo Alto) and been pleased since. We are very happy with the kids progress. Both teachers are extremely experienced, patient, encouraging and effective. We have the flexibility to join our lessons online or in-person at anytime. The admin staff and facilities are great and this is the only school that lets us cancel lessons and reschedule almost without any limit. Most private teachers and schools usually have extremely stringent cancellation policies. But Opus 1 lets us cancel and reschedule lessons online very easily with their online portal, which is super convenient given our busy schedule! Teachers also leave detailed notes and homework instruction after each lesson which is also very useful for my wife and I to know how the kids are progressing what they are supposed to work on next. Recitals are well organized and offered at no cost, which is nice.

Best piano school in the Bay Area. My daughters have tried a few different teachers and finally we found teacher Doris, teacher Ava, and Opus 1. We love: - The quality of our weekly lessons, recitals opportunities throughout the year, and excellent help on exam preparation - flexibility (e.g. offering easy online booking platform, many teachers choices in different level and price ranges to meet your children's needs) - variety of instruments and classes offerings if you'd like to explore more interests Things keep in mind: definitely recommend to take the trial class to find the best fit for you. My daughter has been taking music lessons at Opus 1 for over two years. She first started in the My Little Mozarts program when she was 4. After completing it, she moved to private piano lessons with teacher Dana who was also her instructor for Little Mozarts. We've been happy with her music instruction. Dana is patient, encouraging and cares about her students while making sure they meet her standards by correcting their playing if they're not using the right notes, tempo or dynamics. She also goes beyond teaching the standard piano repertoire and incorporates Disney pieces that help capture the interest of my 6-year old. When my daughter performed at her first recital (Opus 1 organizes yearly recitals for their students so they can have performance opportunities), Dana and her performed a duet together. That helped my daughter build up her confidence and in her second year, she was able to perform solo. We're so glad we found a music school that works for us.

Really great studio. As an adult learner with an variable work schedule, I really appreciated their nice web interface and well-defined policies around scheduling and make-up lessons. It was also very easy to try out different teachers and therefore different teaching/learning styles, which was helpful for me as a new learner. Tommy is an excellent teacher, and went above and beyond in crafting practice exercises and focusing the lessons in the direction that best fit my desired learning style.

My 2nd grader daughter and 5th grader son love learning to play the piano in Opus 1 with Teacher Mark. We've been going to Opus 1 since they were 3 for group classes, eventually started private lessons with various teachers before finding a perfect match with Teacher Mark a few years ago. Teacher Mark is fun loving, passionate about music and great at adapting his teaching style and music genre to individual child. My children also enjoy the various recitals run by Opus 1 and the annual holiday party, where they can see Teacher Mark's joy playing music and improvising for the very excited crowd of families. We highly recommend Opus 1 and Teacher Mark!

The best thing about this music studio is Antoinette. My daughter has been taking voice lessons from her for a few years now and she absolutely loves it. Antoinette is much more than a teacher - she is inspiring, warm, encouraging, constructive, almost therapeutic. The studio itself has very strict pricing policies that I'm not crazy about (for example, you can only have 2 makeup lessons at a time. If you cancel a class, you cannot schedule a make up lesson unless you have already used your 2 pre-existing make up lessons. In general their pricing policies are unnecessarily rigid, though they have improved their policy a bit over the past year. This review is 5 stars mostly because of Antoinette's amazing teaching style.

I have been taking vocal classes with Antoinette for a couple months now and she's been amazing to work with! I love her teaching style and we have great chemistry together that only encourages me to get better with each session. I didn't really know what I was getting into but she made everything really easy & natural to follow. I really respect her work because she understands the emotional influences that activate while singing. I already had some experience with voice since I was in choir in high school and have been singing my whole life basically, but she really helped me understand subtle nuances that you can only get from someone who has come to understand your voice. This review is for the Opus Discovery Summer Camp full week session. My child thoroughly enjoyed this 1 week session. The teachers Yuri and Dana were excellent session leaders - fun and engaging. What we liked is they were able to bring in a variety of music guests and cover different aspects of music that my child would not have had exposure to. Like history, different instruments, vocal, general theory and understanding of parts of the orchestra and such. The value of this camp is excellent. (Note I am very picky about summer camps). For the attention, detail, knowledge and number of kids I would highly recommend this program. I don't know where else you could experience this in a small group setting.
