Sylvia Woell has been such a wonderful piano teacher for my son. He has made so much progress since learning with her, not only in his playing but also in his confidence and enjoyment of music. Sylvia is kind, patient, and calm, while also being very disciplined and encouraging in her teaching style. She knows how to challenge students in a supportive way and makes lessons both productive and enjoyable. We’re so grateful for all the time, dedication, and care she puts into helping my son grow as a pianist and truly enjoy learning piano.
We have been with Opus 1 for several years now and have worked with Teacher Elliot for cello for my now 11 year old ever since. Teacher Elliot is very skilled in his craft and teaches with kindness. One of the things we like most about Teacher Elliot is the way he explains specific techniques. He is also one of the kindest and friendliest people out there and we're grateful he does such a good job of balancing teaching cello skills and techniques, while still keeping it fun and exciting to preserve the kids' love of playing cello. My daughter has been taking piano lessons at Opus 1 Music Studio with Teacher Effie for more than a year, and we truly appreciate her teaching style. Last year, she helped my daughter successfully pass the ABRSM Grade 3 exam, and this year they are working toward Grade 5. Hopefully everything will continue to go smoothly.

We have had experience with three teachers at Opus 1 Music, and all of them have been great. However, Teacher Sasha is one of the best voice teachers we have worked with so far. My daughter enjoys every second of her class with Teacher Sasha, and she looks forward to going every week with great enthusiasm.

Teacher Akira is an amazing piano teacher! He is very patient with my kid, and I really appreciate how he talks to my child calmly and positively when focus starts drifting. My kid absolutely loves him and always looks forward to class. I also like that his lessons are fun and engaging. He doesn’t just go page by page through music pieces. He mixes in different techniques like music note flash cards and other activities to keep kids interested and learning. He knows how to motivate kids and make music enjoyable.

As someone who grew up playing piano and always loved music but never learned vocal fundamentals, I was excited to see that Opus 1 offers adult lessons. It’s been a pleasure working 1:1 with Caitlin (Level 1) on everything from breath work to sight singing to ear training. Well-organized school for mainly piano and violin lessons. I took my trial lesson at Palo Alto, but found the MTV location way more bikable. I took lessons with Luis. I was a returning violinist who stopped 10 years ago after 8 years of lessons. Luis figured out a plan with me on reaching my goals -- building my intonation, bow techniques back up to scratch -- of playing the concertos I missed so much. He provided good feedback every lesson and addressed my questions pretty well. The school has a great web portal for scheduling lessons and recitals. It's pretty easy to use, much nicer than the phone call + check based system I grew up with.
My both sons go here. They love piano, which is rare for teen age boys. Teachers are great. They keep students engaged and love music. Teacher Marco, Teacher Effie are excellent!
Mr Joseph is the best guitar teacher!!! My son is a big fan of him. Things couldn’t go better without him, he is absolutely fantastic teacher, so considerate and accommodating! I guess he is the bestest we could ever find for my son’s guitar . His methodology is so easy and flexible that my son got everything with ease.. if you want the best guitar teacher just ask for Mr Joseph Ochoa!!!

He is very patient, didn't put too much pressure on students, which is very important for my daughter as a beginner. Communications are smoothly, too. After each lesson, we receive a summary of the class. And our emails to him are always answered in a timely manner. Highly recommended!

My son likes Teacher Carrie a lot. She is patient and explains things very clearly. Each class is super efficient and goes very smoothly. My son basically knows how to play the homework when leaving the classroom. All he needs to do at home is repeating and becoming more familiar with it. Before we switched to Carrie at Opus1, my son started private lessons at another institution for a few months. It was quite a headache to have him practice at home. I had to correct him a lot because he couldn't get all the technique and homework practiced during class time. But now he loves piano more and enjoys practicing again. So glad we found Teach Carrie.

I've been learning violin with John at Opus 1 for the past few months. He is patient, attentive and encouraging. He understands how to work with adult students and introduces learning material that helps me learn better. Looking forward to continuing my violin journey with him.
We prefer the MV Moffet Campus. Ms Rebecca Prizznick has been my daughter's piano teacher for more than 2 years now. She always enjoys her lessons with Ms Prizznick. Ms Prizznick is different from other teachers who focus too much on techniques and articulation. While she is obviously a very skilled and accomplished pianist, she also has her fun and unique way of coaching my daughter to play and sing along. That's so helpful especially when my daughter performs at school's talent shows and recitals. I would like my daughter to enjoy playing the piano first, and passing the music exam comes second. We really appreciate Ms Prizznick for her patience and support in our music journey.
My kids take piano lessons and guitar lessons at Opus 1 music. My youngest has been working with Claire Liu for over a year and loves having her as a teacher. She’s so patient and sweet, and has done a wonderful job enforcing the fundamentals while helping my child progress. My oldest takes lessons with Joseph Ochoa for guitar. His calm demeanor and love of guitar and teaching has really helped my oldest excel under his guidance. This is a great music school with multiple locations and flexible schedules that make it extremely convenient for us.

Joseph Ochoa is a wonderful guitar teacher! He keeps my kid's interest and commitment to practice alive by being flexible about the song choice he teaches. My kid is progressing fast while truly enjoying learning. They cover a range of songs that are suited for intermediate to advanced learners, such as black bird and ocean eyes. He even encouraged my kid write her own song and is covering music theory without making the class boring.
Teachers Joseph is a wonderful guitar teacher for my child. He is patient and encouraging and she has made good progress.
My 5 year old boy is with teacher Emily for violin class. As a typical 5 year old boy, he is easily distracted and not always paying attention. Emily has been so nice and patient to coach him, squeezing as much as possible during the class. Her teaching method, compared to so many videos we watch on YouTube, is also significant better and easier to follow. My son loves his violin class and so do we as parents. Thank you teacher Emily!!!

We’ve been with Opus 1 Music Studio for over 10 years and have had a positive experience with the teachers. My daughter took piano lessons with Teacher Yuri and enjoyed her teaching style—supportive and fun. When we had a scheduling conflict, we were worried we might not be able to continue with her, but thankfully it worked out. She was flexible and able to accommodate us, which we really appreciated. More recently, my daughter started violin lessons with Teacher John Maich, who was recommended by a friend. She finds the lessons enjoyable and has been making steady progress. Teacher John also provides helpful updates on her development. We’re pleased with both teachers and would recommend Opus 1

We've had our son with John Maich starting from scratch on violin at the age of 6. John was able to teach the fundamentals of violin technique and music reading in a way a child can understand, and was also able to carefully coach our son towards amazing solo stage performances on violin. My son has been taking violin lessons with Luis Alfaro at the Grant Rd. campus for about a year now, and we absolutely love it! Luis is a kind, patient, and talented instructor, and we feel lucky to have met him! Opus 1 may not be the cheapest option for lessons, but we feel that the quality instruction and flexibility make it worth it. It's easy to schedule make-up lessons with other teachers at any of the campuses, and even switch to online lessons when necessary. All the teachers we've had the pleasure of meeting are top-notch.
My son has been taking piano lessons from teacher Marco for more than a year now and we couldn't have been happier. We go to the Grant Road location in Mountain View. My son was relatively new to piano when he started his lessons with teacher Marco. His piano skills have improved immensely in the last one year; be it the technique, the rhythm, or how to sight read, to name a few. The credit for my son developing a liking for piano goes to teacher Marco. Teacher Marco has many qualities which makes him a great teacher. He is very patient, continually inspires, gives continuous feedback, allows the parents to be a part of the student's lessons, and helps with finding the right music for recitals.
From being with teacher Young-Rang Song for a little over a year, I have learned to sing with confidence. Teacher Young-Rang Song is extremely dedicated to teaching and gives great advices and tips on how to instill emotions into songs and make the songs truly unique and one’s only.
