Piano is one of the most rewarding instruments to learn — it builds reading skills, ear training, and a foundation that transfers to every other instrument. At Opus 1, piano lessons are tailored to each student, from first-time beginners exploring the keyboard to advanced students preparing for ABRSM, Certificate of Merit, and RCM exams.
Available for ages 5 and up. Styles include classical, jazz, pop, blues, musical theater, film scores, and contemporary.

We are so grateful that Sam has the opportunity to learn piano with Ms. Eliza Chien. She is truly the best piano teacher he has ever had. Her kindness, patience, and wonderful teaching style make every lesson enjoyable and inspiring. Sam absolutely loves her classes and always looks forward to every Friday. He gets so excited to see her, learn new notes, improve his skills, and complete his music lessons. It’s wonderful to see how much confidence and enthusiasm she has helped him develop. Ms. Eliza is not only an exceptional teacher but also an amazing person who genuinely cares about her students. Her encouragement, positivity, and dedication make such a meaningful difference. We truly appreciate everything she has done for Sam and feel incredibly fortunate to have her as his piano teacher. Thank you, Ms. Eliza, for your passion, patience, and the joy you bring to every lesson. We couldn’t ask for a better teacher!
Aaron Zhuang and Lina Lee were both very helpful with my daughter. She likes going to piano lessons a lot. She improved her piano skills a lot thanks to them.
Mountain View piano FAQs
Opus 1 starts private piano lessons at age 5 at our Grant Road and Moffett Boulevard campuses. Children under that age are welcome to join Music for Young Children, our group program starting at age 3, which builds the rhythm, pitch, and ear-training foundation that makes private piano lessons successful when the student is ready. A short trial lesson is the easiest way to confirm a child is developmentally prepared.
Yes — Opus 1 teaches piano to adults of every level at our Grant Road and Moffett Boulevard campuses, from complete beginners to returning players picking the piano back up. Adult students set their own goals, choose the styles they care about, and schedule weekly private lessons around work. An adult trial lesson runs 45 minutes for $35 or 60 minutes for $45, so you can meet a teacher before committing — and there's no annual contract.
Trial piano lessons at Opus 1 start at $25 for 30 minutes (reserved for children under 8), $35 for 45 minutes, or $45 for 60 minutes. Monthly membership for one weekly private lesson ranges from $265 to $595 depending on lesson length and teacher level (Standard, Senior, or Master). Tuition is the same flat amount each month, including months with five lessons.
Yes. Opus 1 piano teachers help students prepare for ABRSM, Certificate of Merit, and RCM exams. Tell us the student's current level and exam goal so we can help match them with a teacher. Our published student results cover the whole studio, not only Mountain View.
A working keyboard or piano at home is needed within the first month of enrollment — a 61-key keyboard with weighted touch is the practical minimum for beginners, with families upgrading to an acoustic upright or full-size digital piano as students advance. Your teacher can recommend specific models after the trial lesson.

Yes. Ask our team about piano exam preparation and the current exam arrangements at Moffett.
