Lesson length
Lessons meet once a week at the same scheduled time. Students may register for private lessons year round, subject to teacher availability.
30 minute private lessons are reserved for children under 8 and are best suited for ages 5 to 7.
45 minute private lessons are best suited for students between the ages of 8 to 12 and beginner to intermediate students.
60 minute private lessons are best suited for students who have previous experience and are at least at an intermediate level.
Trial lesson
Why trial lesson? Students can see if their assigned teacher's teaching style is a good fit and they can get a sense of how a regular lesson will be like before enrolling.
Reserved for children under 8.
A common first lesson length for many students.
Useful for older or more advanced students.
If the trial lesson is a good fit, families can select an available weekly time and continue with regular private lessons. For a minute-by-minute walkthrough of a trial, see what to expect at your first piano lesson.
Private lesson moments
Private lessons support children, teens, and adults across strings, piano, voice, guitar, ukulele, and more.
Opus 1 enrolls private lesson students year-round at our Mountain View and Palo Alto campuses, with weekly lessons running through summer. A small number of major-holiday closures (Thanksgiving, the winter break, and federal holidays) are published on the studio calendar; tuition is structured so that students receive approximately 48 to 51 lessons per year regardless of which closures fall on their enrolled day.
Lessons meet once a week at the same scheduled time and are available in 30, 45, and 60 minute durations.
We provide instruments for initial trial lessons. Students taking regular lessons will need to have their own instrument at home to practice on.
Students are required to purchase music books and music accessories for their lessons.
To cancel or reschedule a lesson, a legal guardian or adult student must do so on our online portal or by emailing admin@opus1musicstudio.com at least 24 hours before the scheduled lesson.
A make-up credit will be issued to your account immediately, unless you have already reached your cap. Each subscription is qualified for up to 3 unused make-up credits at a time. The make-up credit can be used immediately to schedule a make-up lesson with your teacher or any other available teacher.
Please see our Studio Policies for details.
