Tuition FAQs

What families ask about private lesson billing.

How much do private music lessons cost at Opus 1 Music Studio?

Private lessons at Opus 1 are billed as a monthly membership for one weekly lesson. Standard Teacher tuition (Level 1) ranges from $265 to $475 per month depending on lesson length, Senior Teacher (Level 2) from $290 to $515, and Master Teacher (Level 3) from $350 to $595. Tuition is the same flat amount each month, including months with five lessons.

Is there a registration fee?

Yes — new students pay a one-time $55 registration fee at enrollment. Additional family members register for $45 (also one-time), and students returning after a withdrawal pay $45 to rejoin. There is no recurring yearly registration fee for active members.

What does the trial lesson include and how much does it cost?

Trial lessons are designed for new families to meet the teacher and try a real one-on-one lesson before enrolling in monthly membership. A 30-minute trial is $25 (reserved for children under 8), 45 minutes is $35, and 60 minutes is $45. Trials are limited to one lesson per student per teacher and cannot be booked more than two weeks in advance.

Why is tuition the same when a month has five lessons?

Opus 1 is a monthly membership, not a per-lesson fee. The monthly rate is calculated so that students receive approximately 48 to 51 lessons per year depending on enrolled day and studio closures. Some months have four lessons, others five — billing stays the same flat amount.

Do siblings or additional family members get a discount?

Yes — the registration fee for additional family members is $45 instead of the standard $55. Tuition itself is per student so each family member is billed at the rate that matches their teacher level and lesson length.

Do I have to sign a long contract, and can I pause my membership?

Tuition is month-to-month with no semester or annual commitment, but Opus 1 does not offer a general pause option — students are either enrolled in a weekly time slot or they are not. The one exception is summer hold, which lets enrolled families pause for the summer while keeping their weekly time slot reserved for the fall. If a family withdraws from lessons outside of summer hold, the guaranteed weekly time slot with their teacher is released. Withdrawn students are welcome to re-enroll later, but the previous teacher is often fully booked and the previous weekly time may no longer be available. Most Opus 1 families stay enrolled continuously for multiple years for this reason.
